Woodlands Primary School is committed to ensuring all pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum whatever their gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, needs or abilities.
We work very closely together across Mercia Learning Trust by taking positive action to ensure that our settings make appropriate provision through curriculum planning, delivery and assessment for children of differing abilities, alongside encouraging children to be involved in their own learning and to be aware of their targets.
You can find further information about SEND at our school in our SEND information report and policy.

Specialist Resource Provision
We are proud to have opened our Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) in September 2024. This provision is designed to ensure that every child has access to a curriculum that is carefully planned and delivered to meet a wide range of needs.
Within the SRP, learning takes place in a purposeful and supportive environment, led by staff who understand and respond to individual needs. At our school, routine is our friend and our children thrive on structure. Many of our children follow an Early Years curriculum supported by the Autism Education Trust Framework, ensuring consistency and clarity in every interaction.
As a school, we believe in raising the floor for every child. Our commitment is to provide opportunities for all pupils to reach their full potential, academically and personally. Character matters – kindness and respect lead the way in everything we do, creating a culture where every child feels valued and safe.
Our SRP is different from an Integrated Resource (IR). Children experience individualised amounts of integration where appropriate – these opportunities are meaningful and tailored to each child’s needs.
To access the SRP, children need an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) with a primary need of Communication and Interaction – Autism, at level four (or five) on the Sheffield Support Grid (SSG).
We currently have two classes:
- Treehouse Class – for children who are pre-verbal or in the early stages of language development.
- Nest Class – for children with more developed language skills, who access year group classes through bespoke timetables based on their individual communication and interaction needs.
The provision offers 20 places for primary-aged children from the local area.
If you would like to find out more or arrange a visit, please contact the school office. We strongly recommend visiting our setting prior to consulting for a place.
