Welcome From The Headteacher

Welcome to Woodlands Primary School

It is an honour to lead a school that sits at the heart of its community and is driven by a simple but powerful belief: education changes lives.

Every decision we make is rooted in the ambition that every child, regardless of background, can achieve great things and leave us ready to thrive in the wider world.

We are proud of our children and the incredible progress they make every day. At Woodlands, we raise the floor so every child can stand shoulder to shoulder with any child nationally. We do this through high expectations, a culture of kindness and respect, and a curriculum that opens doors to opportunity.

Reading is at the heart of everything we do because we know that fluent readers can access the full breadth of learning and the world beyond school.

Our school is a place of care. Routine is our friend; structure helps our children thrive, and this consistency creates a safe space where pupils feel secure, valued, and ready to learn.

Alongside academic excellence, we nurture character and resilience so that our children grow into confident, compassionate citizens who make a positive contribution to society. We want every child to leave Woodlands not only with strong knowledge and skills, but with pride in who they are and hope for what they can become.

As part of Mercia Learning Trust, we share a commitment to kindness, integrity, and diligence. We exist to empower everyone in our communities-especially the most disadvantaged-to succeed. These values shape our culture and drive our relentless focus on improving outcomes for every child.

Our ethos and values

At Woodlands Primary School we create a safe space for children to explore and investigate and to have deliberate learning in.

This is underpinned by our 4 mantras.

  • We raise the floor so every child can stand shoulder to shoulder with any child nationally.
  • Routine is our friend; structure helps our children thrive.
  • Every day counts – attendance unlocks opportunity.
  • Character matters – kindness and respect lead the way.
